Vented and sealed Ni-Cd prismatic cells designed and produced mainly for power industry are the ideal D.C. power sources in transformer substation due to low internal resistance and heavy drain capability. Hermetically sealed Ni-Cd prismatic cells and Ni-H² cells with both negative & positive sintering plates have been developed for space applications. Cylindrical Ni-Cd & Ni-MH cells are characterized by good low temperature performance, long cycle life, low internal resistance and steady working voltage.
