Lithium battery is the general name of chemical power sources by using lithium as negative material. Compared with other chemical power sources, lithium battery has the highest specific energy (300～500Wh/Kg) and shows excellent advantages of high and stable discharge voltage (3.0V), good sealing, long shelf life (3～5 years) and wide operating temperature range (-40 ～+ 550C).
In TIPS, R&D Division of Lithium Batteries was established in 1970抯 as the earliest R&D organization in lithium battery field in China. Several series of lithium battery products have been researched and developed, such as lithium ion battery, lithium thionyl chloride battery and lithium manganese dioxide battery. with dozens of types including rectangular battery, cylindric battery and button cell, etc.
After research and production for thirty years, 1ithium batteries developed by our institute have found many applications in military and consumer market. In military fields, the battery can be used in communication devices, secret machine, sonar generator, mines and mine detonators, etc. In consumer market, the different lithium batteries can be used as power sources in memory back up devices, instruments & meters, movable telephones, caculators, notebook computers, electric watches, electric toys, recorders, etc. Besides, a kind of special designed lithium batteries can be used in oil wells with high temperature condition(80～1500C).Lithium ion battery, which has been recently developed can be used in movable phones & notebook computers.
The polymer Lithium-ion battery developed by TIPS has reached the international advanced level.Typical size cell,62mm×55mm×3.9mm,600mAh,135Wh/kg,cycle life 300,-20～550C.The present TIPS has had the ability to transfer technology for producting polymer Lithium-ion bttery.Polymer Lithium-ion battery has been widely used in portable electric devices, such as mobile phone,note book computer,PDA.
TIPS has the ability of designing and producing various special lithium batteries based on customer抯 requirements, making technology transfer and supplying complete sets of production lines.
